Beginning Years

Hello! My name is Tessa Mendez, owner, and founder of Art City Piano Studio. I began taking piano lessons at a young age and loved the ability it gave me to express myself. Throughout elementary, middle, and high school I competed yearly in our area's performing arts competitions, consistently receiving superior marks. My first piano teacher and my mom instilled in me a love for the piano that has lasted my whole life! From them, I learned how to enjoy playing, despite how difficult it can be at times!

Making the Piano an Adventure!

At Art City Piano Studio, lessons are structured around the needs of the student. We strive to make it an exciting event for our students to come to class. As we follow the curriculum from "Faber's Piano Adventures", we incorporate games and hands-on activities to allow students to apply what they learn in various settings. It is our goal at Art City Piano Studio for every child to walk away from each lesson progressing in the material while still enjoying the experience of learning the piano!

LESSON STRUCTURE

For beginning students, lessons last 30 minutes and are made up of the following:

Technique or warm-ups
Passing off 1-4 songs each week
Sightreading
Theory
Games to solidify concepts learned

Lessons are individualized for each child so that they will feel motivated and excited to practice EVERY DAY at home!
